Note

This wiki is a work in progress. I will try to make additions as frequently as possible, but I am prone to distraction by the array of other personal projects that I tinker with.

Check back in from time-to-time to see how it’s all coming along.

Further Information

Where am I?

Physically, I don’t know. Digitally, you’re at Big Cal’s Little Maths Wiki.

This resource aims to link you up with the top maths people and resources to help you teach maths without having to work it all out yourself.

This is a project that I am building in my own time in an attempt to serve the teaching and learning community. It will never be perfect, but it is all delivered in good faith, in hope that it will guide you somewhere useful. To that end, I hope that you will forgive any errors on my part in the assembly of this project.

Who is Big Cal?

I am.

Though the more detailed version is that I’m an educator working within the further education sector in the UK.

I have a varied academic and work history, but my current role sees me coaching predominately 16-19 year olds to build their confidence and success in maths; supporting learners in small group sessions with their Functional Skills and GCSE maths qualifications. My role also covers English, Study Skills, and Digital Skills, where I possess a particular passion for the latter, but my day-to-day is 95% focused on maths support. I entered this role in October 2025 after spending the three years prior teaching carpentry.
